Rebel of the Sands opens with a suspenseful situation as Amani, dressed as a boy, sneaked out of home and went looking for her fortune, her way out of Dustwalk. I wasn’t quite sure what to expect but this beginning reminds me a little of Stephen King’s Dark Tower series; I don’t read much western so if there’s any gunslingers in a world that’s not quite our own, it’ll remind me of Roland! This book grabbed me right from the very beginning and did not let go. It was action-packed and I like that

I really liked this story it was interesting to read and she crafted a fantastical world that the charters live in and with the characters. It was a story of self discovery as well as a story of rebellion and magic. It is definitely a book I will be reading again.
