Irving is a master of description! I could feel the cool fall air, smell the wonderful food at the buffet and feel the fear of Ichabod on that fateful night. My first foray with Irving, but definitely not my last.
Yeah, well, I have to say I found this a little disappointing. For a short story, there was an awful lot of build up that didn't contribute to the atmosphere at all. It was a bit of a "big swing, no ding".

A really entertaining, short read. It could have been longer and creepier, but still a good read.
