Note to self: Stop reading overhyped books, you always end up disappointed!!!

I liked the idea of this book but hated the characters. I had no sympathy for any of them and honestly didn't care what happened to them. The book did keep me guessing right till the end which was why I would give it a 2.5 rating. It was just ok for me.
I really don't have anything else to say about this book. I know many people love this one so once again I am in the minority. I guess I am just tired of reading about t

I enjoyed this book but I guess I expected more. It is a good thriller and has a good, satisfying conclusion. The story revolves around 3 women. Rachel, who has a drinking problem, Megan and Anna. This story is told mostly from Rachel's POV and she isn't really understood (herself included) until the end. I gave it 3.5 stars but rounded up to 4. ...more

This book really is all it is cracked up to be. I think my enjoyment of it was enhanced by listening to it on audio, so the three narrators who read the three speaking characters in the book really perfected the personalities of all three. When we first meet Rachel, she is pathetic, infuriating, completely unlikable, but the more we get to know her and the deeper we fall into the mystery into which she has become embroiled, the more pity I felt towards her (although I never actually liked her - ...more

The only thing I could really say while reading this is, "What the hell is wrong with these people. Their nucking futs..all of them. Not only are they all nuts, they are also creepy as hell. Seriously what sane person does the stuff that Rachael does? How could she and Anna for that fact miss how Tom is a douche canoe. Personally they all were a bit douche, but Tom was head of the pack as Sergeant Douche Canoe. I'm seriously creeped out over this one. ...more

I think everyone in this book is certifiably crazy. Everyone.

Meh. I found myself a bit bored, and thought it was a tad too slow-going. I'll see the movie, but I don't have high hopes for it. But the audio was great, so three stars for that and 2 stars for the story. Actually, I think I liked Gone Girl better. Oh, and it took me awhile to figure it out, which usually never happens because I AM SPOT ON FAST.

This is the first book that I have read by this author. My rating of this book has nothing to do with the author. I really like mysteries and espionage books, but apparently this type of thriller is not for me. This book has gotten excellent reviews so I am happy for Ms. Hawkins. I will say that anyone who is depressed, manic depressive, or has an issue with alcohol should reconsider before reading.

I've read a wide mix of negative and positive reviews about this book, and I'm definitely on the positive side. I found it suspenseful and compelling. Many disliked the characters and therefore couldn't like the book, but I found them to be maddeningly pathetic at times, but also fascinating in a "I can't believe they did that" kind of way. Rachel is the first character we meet as she commutes back and forth to London on the train, passing by the house where she used to live and where her ex and ...more

The Girl on the Train - Paula Hawkins

So yeah, that happened.  I don't even know where to begin with this one.  Absolutely NO ONE in this book had any redeeming value.  If you ask me they all deserved each other.  I just can not believe this book.

The beginning of the book dragged for me.  There were a few times when I was going to bail.  Just have to sit through a depressed drunk ride back and forth on train lamenting how awful her life was seriously made me just want to t

I liked the idea behind this book - the girl on the train, who watch you and your everyday life, makes up your story and in her head creates this almost perfect couple until one day she sees something...

To me it sounds like a great start for an entertaining, thrilling and captivating book. And "The Girl on the Train" is exactly that for a long time, but it just falls flat.

My biggest issue with the book was the characters. All of them seems to have some sort of mental disorder, and I just found i

Well, this was definitely a page turner. I was a little put off by the Gone Girl comparisons (because I thought GG was awful) but read this anyway & was pleasantly surprised.

The three narrators had distinctively different voices, which I enjoyed, but I didn't quite see the point of having Anna's POV.

I felt it was a little too long - there was a fair bit in there that didn't really seem to add to the story. I think some pruning could have served it well - by about 75% of the way through I was o

The book was okay. It was more than similar to Gilian Flynn's novels, which I did not like, especially after reading three of Flynn's books. The ending came very suddenly and I still have many unanswered questions. ...more

A crime/mystery reminiscent of Gone Girl. Not sure which one came first. Definitely a page turner!
