From the dust jacket: Despite the tumor-shrinking medical miracle that has bought her a few years, Hazel has never been anything but terminal, her final chapter inscribed upon diagnosis. But when a gorgeous plot twist named Augustus Waters suddenly appears at Cancer Kid Support Group, Hazel’s story is about to be completely rewritten.

There is much to like about this novel – characters that behave as one would expec

This is now my favorite book. I started reading it on a whim one evening, and I read the entire thing in one sitting. I couldn't put it down, it was emotional, honest, and wonderful. I cried like a baby, I was in bed and was forced to get up and get tissues because I was so genuinely sad. This isn't a bad thing, sometimes it is good to be emotionally touched by something and to let it into your heart and let it break it. Usually, I'm not into that, but this novel is worth it. Also, John Green is ...more

I grew teary-eyed multiple times through this book, and the audio was excellent. I couldn't wait to read this new one from John Green because I really adored "Looking For Alaska." It didn't disappoint and Gus was a favorite character. The plot hit home for me, which was hard at times. But I really, really enjoy Green's writing style.

Until the end, I wasn't sure how I was going to rate this book, but I ended up with a good feeling about it and enjoyed it overall despite its sad subject. I really enjoyed the main characters--Augustus, Hazel, and Isaac. They are all teenagers who are dealing with cancer and its effects, both physical and mental. I loved their camaraderie and the silliness they were able to share, even while dealing with the day-to-day effects of their diseases. The fact that they played with words and created ...more

I'm torn... I found myself needing a break from the book sometimes, because it was just too emotional. At the same time I often wondered if I actually believed in the characters. In many ways Hazel and Augustus didn't match their age. They were so wise and so well-spoken, and to me seemed like two 70 years olds stuck in teenage bodies. And I'm wondering if the characters seem realistic? But maybe the world is full of teenagers like Hazel and Augustus? Or maybe being diagnosed with cancer in such ...more

Best book I have read in a very long time. First book to make me cry in a very long time. Had a few glaring inconsistencies, but Green acknowledges in the acknowledgements that expertise supplied to him on medical matters was "cheerfully ignored" when it suited his whims. It didn't detract from the book enough to matter. I can't possibly add anything that the thousands of other reviewers haven't already said. Wonderful book. Read it. I already want to read it again. ...more

READ THIS BOOK. The story is sweet and simple...it's not too cutesy or too dramatic and there is no trying to hard. It just reads easy. It is great as young adult fiction, but it reads very well for adults as well. I loved this book. I read it all in one sitting and more or less bawled my eyes out.
