Quite funny at times incredibly irritating at others, both Betsy & the book. Her odd little quirks can be amusing at first but one gets over them very quickly, & she's just not very bright. The books are fun and lighthearted. Betsey is a huge ditz, funny at times, and can be endearing, but...Yes there is a huge but here. The consistent use of the word "retard(ed)" is a bit off putting. I don't find it amusing. It was used so much in the story that I almost stopped listening. It's not consistent with the story or who the character is. I believe it's a word that the author uses or has used on a regular basis. It's not impressive and it makes me cringe hearing it. Yes it's a personal
