A short book, and it’s impossible for Trollope to reach his usual heights in the space available. But this is still a delightful book, with a cast of very real characters facing moral quandaries that test their sense of right and wrong.

Trollope never fails to entertain, but in this case he was short and sweet. Most of his books so far have had several plot lines. This had but two plot lines. The second wasn't introduced until about the mid-point, by which time he might just have skipped it.
