One of the most accessible and straightforward PKD novels I've read so far.
"Vulcan's Hammer" is more pulp than thought-provoking scifi, but still an enjoyable read, well paced and suspenceful. And pretty short.

Love PKD, but this one was a struggle to get through . A lot of speculative ideas about pervasive surveillance, supercomputers, militaristic robots, blah, blah blah. The characters were not developed and were obvious, simplistic mouthpieces for ideas.

The cover art of my paperback pretty much gave the plot away. But the plot is fairly thin. There is no alternate realities or psyonic powers and the quasi-religious cult is fairly tame. There is no surprising plot reversal at the end.

Continuing the PKD path here (binging them all in publication order). This is about a post atomic war future in which the world leaders have put all governing decisions in the hands of a neutral computer. Of course, things go badly. And it’s a great read. PKD’s scope is narrowing at this point in his published career and though there are many converging character paths, the focus is more economical leaving less acrobatic reading responsibilities. A good one.
