What an utterly fascinating book. Very hard to describe. PKD writes himself into this story...the sci-fi author friend of a seemingly disturbed man suffering from either an alien possession or religious mania. In the end it would appear that the two conditions are not so distinct! You will have to read it to see how Dick unravels that...The story is an 'alternate universe' story. In this case it is a vision of a world dominated by the paranoid anti-communist sentiment of 1950s McCarthyism. A cen

Dick's first effort at explaining his mystical experiences of 1974. Some ideas were later re-worked to produce VALIS. It verges on a conspiracy novel at times. Lacking in the comic elements of VALIS, but still a very enjoyable read
