I was supposed to read this and get out unscathed????? Send help. Mr. Rhys Larsen who ARE you??? I love this man, I don’t even know what to say. He’s so grumpy I love it. Also, where can I find a man who takes me out on a vacation and also plans an indoor festival for me????? I need one ASAP. He should be tall, ex-navy SEAL, now-bodyguard, and goes by the name Rhys Larsen. Thank you for your help

Oh boy, let me tell you - I thought I was head over heels for Alex in the first book of this series. But as it turns out, my heart was just waiting for Rhys to come swaggering in, guns holstered and muscles bulging (HAHA) in the second book. Ana Huang really hit her stride with this one, and Rhys was the MMC of my dreams.

I've started to get tired of MMCs who talk a big game about protecting the FMC, and then predictably go all Rambo on everyone in the next chapter. It was a nice change of pace t Oh boy, let me tell you - I thought I was head over heels for Alex in the first book of this series. Ana Huang really hit her stride with this one, and Rhys was the MMC of my dreams.

I've started to get tired of MMCs who talk a big game about protecting the FMC, and then predictably go all Rambo on everyone in the next chapter. It was a nice change of pace to have a MMC who we knew would keep Bridget safe and had promised to hurt anyone who touched her, but for the most part, didn't resort to violence. He was just THERE.

And can we talk about the chemistry between Rhys and Bridget from the get-go? Hot, bright, and impossible to ignore. From the moment they locked eyes, I was completely seduced by this book and they were seduced by each other, whether they liked it or not. Rhys was tall, dark, grumpy and a little broken, but when it came to Bridget, that heart of his was pure. He understood her on a level that no one else could, noticing every detail about her - even the ones she didn't realize about herself. Bridget's loneliness, her ability to hold her own, and her fear of losing her freedom - Rhys saw it all and was determined to protect her at all costs.

The characters in this book despite the royal setting, felt real and relatable. Rhys's flaws were the result of his experiences, but he never let them diminish Bridget's self-esteem or worth. Quite often the MMC can be so twisted (haha) that they forget that the FMC isn't the overall cause of their past pain. Rhys knew that the pain he carried, was never Bridgets fault.

Overall, I was completely hooked on this book from start to finish. Huang's writing was impeccable, the characters were captivating, and the plot *fans self*. I'll never go out in the rain without thinking about Rhys, again.

P.S I understand some people find the way Rhys is with Bridget in the bedroom degrading, might I remind you of how Alex treated his sexual partners before he slept with Ava. ...more
