In college I read all of Hesse’s published works at that time. I remember that Siddhartha was one of my least favorites, with Narcissus and Goldmund and Steppenwolf being my favorites. His book, Poems, was also a favorite, I recall some of his poems were just heart wrenching. The Glass Bead Game was intriguing. It’s to say, I really liked Hesse’s body of work.

Me acuerdo que lo leí en mi primer año de la universidad (2019), cada vez que me volvía a mi casa en el bus. Definitivamente, uno de los mejores libros que leí ese año. Hesse tiene una forma de describir la simplicidad de la vida con palabras para nada complicadas. Lo que amaba era que yo viajaba por el camino del protagonista, de alguna forma me hacia escapar de el ajetreo de mi ciudad natal.

Apparently I read this in a class 8 years ago and didn’t remember a thing. But criticism that the book does not contain an accurate overview of Buddhism aside, this is an excellent short read. I thoroughly enjoyed the writing style and vivid imagery. Upon revisiting the book, the topics resonated much more - was a very existential and thought-provoking few hours
