well it's almost midnight here and i'm three glasses of wine in, and i've finished seven husbands. i am broken to say the least. like when i actually say broken i mean i am contemplating life, evelyn's life, what could have been done differently, and the inspiration behind tjr writing this masterpiece. because that is what it is. a masterpiece. the writing is phenomenal - once you start it's hard to put it down and not think about it or wonder what's next. the connection between the characters -

I think of this book every single day despite having read it over a year ago. Oh how Celia and Evelyn are the perfect couple that are loved and cherished dearly in my heart. Evelyn as a main character is extremely interesting and I throughly enjoyed being able to read the book from her point of view as well as scenes from Moniques life.

This book was excellent!! I loved the plot of this book - I’ve never read anything like it, it really held my attention the whole time! TJR is amazing at making you really picture the era and the setting in which the book is taking place. Can’t wait to read more of her work!

So so so so good! Did not expect that twist at all
this book was not what i thought it would be but i now understand why everyone says they wish they could read this book for the first time again. it was a beautiful, emotional, fast-paced story that i will always love. i cant wait to reread this and annotate more even though it is probably the most annotated book in my collection. i love everything about it

this book has my whole heart <33 the representation was amazing and the plot twists were completely unexpected. it was a bit slow at parts but overall an amazing book
