omg i absolutely loved this book! the worldbuilding was so pretty and done so well, and jacks and evangeline are my favorites ever. i honestly kinda expected some parts of the ending but this book was so fast paced i’m literally in LOVEEEEE. jacks is my new book bf. the betrayal was so good too 😝
although i had a terrible experience reading caraval a couple years ago, i really enjoyed reading this book so i’m really glad i gave stephanie a second chance (even if i wasn’t feeling excited in the beginning). The book is fun, it kept me excited to see what was gonna happen next and i believe that the author managed to develop this story and the characters really well

i lowkey love evangeline she may be delulu but that’s what makes her relatable. i also can’t stand jacks and i really really tried to like him or at least tolerate him but i just couldn’t! i’ll try again in the next book. but overall i really loved the story. it was so unpredictable but in the best way.
It was good don’t get me wrong, just not good enough i guess. I had way higher expectations after reading Caraval and was just a bit disappointed in the end.
I pretty much guessed all the plot twists and sort of got lost in the plot throughout the second half. No offence but I really did not give a single fuck about prince Apollo or Luc and just wished the plot would be more interesting.

i think i would have liked this book more if i wasn’t in the worst reading slump of my life 😭 i was just never motivated to read it. if you have any recs to get out of a reading slump fast please let me know!
