5 ‘magnificent’ stars

“I believe there are far more possibilities than happily ever after or tragedy. Every story has the potential for infinite endings.”

Stephanie’s extraordinary ability to craft an ethereally enchanting world never ceases to impress me. Her stories read like fairytales to me—ones that leave me with an incessant longing to immerse myself in her bewitching universe. This was my second time embarking on an adventurous and magnificent journey to a world full of mysteries, potions,

second time around was better but i'm still skeptical

----------

literally nobody look at me as i try desperately to give this book a second chance

you guys canNOT be fr with this one

look, i get that this is a YA series and maybe i am growing out of YA (although i still read + enjoy it from time to time) but i swear, this read as if it was written for middle grade. the writing is genuinely some "cow jumped over the moon" type sh*t—incredibly plain, uninteresting, and deeply juvenile.

this got me out of my 1 year long fantasy reading slump! I honestly didn't expect it to be this good. I should have of course, simply because of Jacks. I love him so much. I hope we get to see his tortured side a little more in the next book.

I liked that you could never really know where it was going with this book. Some parts of the ending were a little predictable but I didn't mind it that much. And if I did the last plot twist made up for that.
