The Skull Throne is the fourth book in Peter V. Brett's best-selling Demon Cycle. The Skull Throne starts just seconds after the events in Book 3 (
The Daylight War
). That book literally ends with a cliffhanger, as the two main characters Arlen Bales (the eponymous Warded Man of Book 1's
The Warded Man
) and Ahmann Jardir (the Shar'Dama Ka or head of the Krasian forces) fall over the edge of a cliff.

This book made me mad. The trend that Game of Throne began is beginning to wear on me. Must all authors kill off their most likable characters? It seems so. I feel like half of the cast died in this book. Also, the "main" story barely moved. Arlen and Jardir got like... three chapters? Maybe four? What was seen was a bit repetitive for my taste.

I have been waiting for this for a while. And while it was released, made a re-reading marathon of the first 3 books, just to have all the events and characters fresh in my mind.
And so, the day came and "The Skull Throne" is out and well... it didn't lasted a week.
Even though this book is action-packed, I felt it like "The Two Towers"; a transition book. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it's boring or bad, oh no, on the contrary.

This is the 4th book in the Demon Cycle Series. This ranks up there as one of my favorite fantasy series. Along with, The Kingkiller Chronicles, The Gentlemen Bastard Series and The Dresden Files. I longed for the release of this book since the last one literally ended in a cliffhanger. This series has great characters and character development. Great overall story and moves at an entertaining pace. My following review has some spoilers so please be aware. I really enjoyed this book but I was di

Aaarrg! The ending was just mean! To think I have to wait another 2 or 3 years for the last volume!!! In general, I kept waiting for some resolution, but of course there was none. The ending took me by surprise with a cliff-hanger the size of a whale.

Excellent as always!!!
This is the best one so far.
The writing has improved (if you can believe it) since "Daylight War." If you haven't read the first three you will be lost. Highly recommended to those that want to laugh, cry, stay up all night and be thrust into an imaginative, dangerous, and rich world!! ...more
