The Skull Throne is the fourth book in Peter V. Brett's best-selling Demon Cycle. The Skull Throne starts just seconds after the events in Book 3 (
The Daylight War
). That book literally ends with a cliffhanger, as the two main characters Arlen Bales (the eponymous Warded Man of Book 1's
The Warded Man
) and Ahmann Jardir (the Shar'Dama Ka or head of the Krasian forces) fall over the edge of a cliff.

This book made me mad. The trend that Game of Throne began is beginning to wear on me. Must all authors kill off their most likable characters? It seems so. I feel like half of the cast died in this book. Also, the "main" story barely moved. Arlen and Jardir got like... three chapters? Maybe four? What was seen was a bit repetitive for my taste.

Fantastic end sequence can't overcome the fact that I spent the majority of the book very disappointed. This was very Robert Jordan-esque, but not in a good way. It was was like those painful middle novels where Rand barely shows up because the plot managed to advance when he did, and that was seemingly not the goal.
If you want to see what happens to Jardir and Arlen, well, good news and bad news. You will find out and they have a wonderful little sequence in the first third, and then you won't ...more

I have been waiting for this for a while. And while it was released, made a re-reading marathon of the first 3 books, just to have all the events and characters fresh in my mind.
And so, the day came and "The Skull Throne" is out and well... it didn't lasted a week.
Even though this book is action-packed, I felt it like "The Two Towers"; a transition book. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it's boring or bad, oh no, on the contrary.

I thought this book was very well written, especially since the 2 main characters were hardly in it and yet i was still able to read it entirely too quick. I thought it was especially great when major characters started dying. At first i was like what the fuck the deaths were very one sided, then it got balanced out and all was made right in my mind.

How could you do this to us Mr Brett? That wasn't very nice! I liked that character! :(
On the plus side... I loved it! Will have to do a re-read of the series before the next one comes out.
