Blood Meridian is one of the most notable examples of an anti-western in modern American fiction. While some readers find the book to be too violent, it is important to note that the book's premise is rooted in factual events, and some of the characters are based on real bounty hunters who killed and marauded through the borderlands, such as Texas Ranger turned outlaw, John Joel Glanton. This was an excellent novel. The descriptions of so vivid and terrific. I love all of the awful and disparaging language that it used by the characters giving them some depth & mean-spirited colorfulness.
