Whether to stay, or go, or spite him. She should go, of course. Her curiosity is piqued, but she is not one to bend beneath the weight of other people's rules. Least of all a man's.


VE Schwab is a hit or miss for me, but I had really high hopes for this one. Sadly, Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil was not for me. There's honestly not much happening in this book, and I don't understand why it needed to be over 550 pages long. The pacing felt painfully slow, and I was bored for most of it.

Ugh why is present tense becoming so popular? At least Schwab is a good writer so it's barely noticeable.

I love the writing and the story. I like that the three POVs do have distinct voices. The pacing of the story felt off and unequal. Hate that it was present tense.

I think this would be a great TV show. Dig all the pop culture vampire references.

I absolutely adored this book. If I could give it six stars I would. It is a dark, heart-pounding story, and listening to the audiobook just makes it even better. There is a lot of hype around this book, and it is worth every bit of it. It is a long listen - over 18 hours, but it is well worth the time. You won't regret a second of it

The three narrators are beyond wonderful - Julia Whelan's voice brings all the bloodlust and dangerous personality to the forefront with Sabine. Katie Leung's Scot
