VE Schwab is a hit or miss for me, but I had really high hopes for this one. Sadly, Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil was not for me. Ugh why is present tense becoming so popular? At least Schwab is a good writer so it's barely noticeable.
I love the writing and the story. I like that the three POVs do have distinct voices. The pacing of the story felt off and unequal. Hate that it was present tense.
I think this would be a great TV show. Dig all the pop culture vampire references.
Did not like Alice at all. Her parts were so difficult to get through. There wasn't anything redeeming to her character at all. Charlotte was also ...more

Wow 🤩 for once the hype is correct on this one Schwab’s best yet in my opinion, I really enjoyed Addie LaRue but this is even better , clever plotting fantastic characters , totally absorbing , loved the historical blend with modern day and three protagonists all very different . This will be in my top ten maybe even top five books 📚 of the year - loved it ,
