Occasionally (95% of the time), I choose to continue a book based on how it makes me feel. For most of this one, I felt frustrated—but when a bond was severed, I experienced everything the character did, and that meant something to me. Also, I think I need to do a wellness check on my Vampire Academy girlies… too meta or what? See you in 2027, gals and pals.

Ugh, my heart. 💔 How do I wait more than a year to find out what happens next? 😭😭

I really wanted to love Onyx Storm, but it just didn’t quite hit the mark for me. Don’t get me wrong—Rebecca Yarros knows how to write intense, action-packed scenes and bring the heat when it comes to romance. As a super fan of this series and a lover of middle of a series fantasy books in general this book is nothing short of perfection to me. I love that Rebecca focused back on character driven arcs and focused on one main plot and little side quests that tie into the main story. This book is entertaining, funny and had me kicking my feet in both happiness and extreme sadness. The cliffhanger on this book is insane to a level I haven’t read in a long time. Can’t wait for the next book in a few years ...more

Like so many others I, too, was disappointed in this book. It had some moments but overall it just ho-hummed along. The whole story could have wrapped up in this book but now the story will be dragged across two more books.

One thing I’m hopeful for is getting to read from the POV Xaden. I don’t understand why RY only brings him in at the end. Would like to learn who he is besides a nice face.
