This book was intense. It gave me a definite gothic, dark, and eerie feel when it came to the setting. Lilia was such an interesting protagonist and kept me reeling for more as I read.

Feels weird to say that I was super “pleasantly” surprised by this book given that it’s NOT pleasant, but I was. I’m in a bit of a romantasy-heavy phase right now, so didn’t think I would love Nocticadia as much as I did, but it fast became one of my favorite 2024 reads!

This was entertaining, but not amazing. The first two chapters felt like horror with maybe a slice of dark gothic historical fiction. Then it veered dark romance for quite a bit. Then the last 30% was more like a generic thriller? I didn’t love the wrap up or the villains. The MCs drew you in. Quite a bit of heat; medium kink. I liked the dark and macabre ambience but feel like if you are looking for gothic and macabre, there are better stories out there.
