I wasn’t sure of the book at the first few chapters. I have to say I was lost and what was going on, and I wasn’t following, but as I kept reading, I noticed that things were starting to tie together. So I was patient and waited it out. I’m so happy I did! I know manypeople that DNF this book. What a pity, because you missed out on a very, very beginning, beginning to a long adventure to come.

Shelves: fantasy

This book is trying to be so many fantasy books at once. I love fantasy but this is almost too much. The world comes with at least 10 pages of glossary, indexes and guides before chapter 1 comes about. Maybe that should have been enough to tell me this book was trying way too hard.
The illustrations are probably what sparks the book. Each chapter has them and they are drawn so well. It did make me want to see what the world was about.

Oh dear oh dear I’m so glad this was a kindle freebie because this is one of the worst books Iv read this year , it starts well but then disappears down the boring 🥱 over written hole , I found the world building tedious and at 259 odd pages still nothing has happened , I started to skim read it. I think romantasy books are either jam or marmite some are great some are truly awful and publishers are just desperate to publish more due to the current trend . This may just be my new favorite book of all time. Or second only to The Princess Bride. I adored this book. The characters. The world building. Oh my gosh, the world building... Sarah A. Parker is also a gem of a person. It shines through in her novels. You can tell this is a passion project. I just loved this book!
