Just as good as the first book if not better!! Emily is much nicer to Wendell this time around which was something I disliked in book 1. The writing style flows and is enchanting. It feels like reading a magical poem more than a book.

If the first book felt like a snowy forest hike, this one was like a stroll through a mossy, foggy, sun-dappled forest—still magical and mysterious but with slightly less of an edge. It was peak cozy fantasy for me.

Here, Emily, along with Wendell, Ariadne (her niece), and Rose (her colleague) embark on a more personal quest to find the door to Wendell's realm in the Austrian Alps. The structure and plot of this sequel mirrored the first book, so I'm having trouble figuring out why I liked this ...more

this sequel kept the dry observational tone of the first book, but threw away the distinctive humor/wit that made the first book so charming and relatable. i read the last 30% as fast as possible so that i didn’t drop it completely. hoping book 3 is nothing like this story.

This book is a breath of fresh air. the romance is heartwarming but most importantly you will be enchanted by Emily’s scholarly presence and eagerness to learn and journal everything. I am so inspired by Emily.
