I don't have anything really negative to say about this one. It just wasn't as good as the first. For the amount of forward progress, I'm not sure a whole second book was needed. The first book could have been longer and come to this conclusion. It made all the good stuff from the first book feel somewhat diluted. I read Ruthless Vows this week, which is the conclusion to the Letters of Enchantment Duology. I thought it was fantastic. I am really glad I waited to read Divine Rivals so I could read these back to back. I was truly immersed in the story this week, and I am sad to leave it. I don't want to spoil anything, but some things I loved:

1. The beautiful descriptions of emotions, settings, and events. There was so much intensity, anticipation, sadness, and love in these books, and I experienced it all ...more
