Violet Sorrengail aka chronic illness queen defies the odds again in this book. Her internal strength is so empowering. Giving the story's heroine a chronic illness is unique and not something I’ve seen before. Rebecca Yarros seamlessly adds the illness into the character. Violet shows her resilience and it serves as a powerful reminder that a chronic condition does not keep you from experiencing life. Her mental fortitude is fantastic and resonates deeply.

I didn’t care for Violet and Xaden fighting through the majority of the book. Xaden and his overprotectiveness was annoying, also Violet and her reiterating to us over and over that she can’t trust Xaden… also annoying. But did I love it? yes. Will I be reading the 3rd as soon as it comes out? Also yes.

The writing went significantly down from the first book to this one, which was disappointing. So many plot holes. What even happened? I don't know, and I'm not sure I care. Thoroughly disappointed given the promise of the first installment in this series.
