After feeling lost with TK&TM, I'm glad I tried another Rachel Gillig.

Loved the gothic atmosphere, unique magic system, integration of poetry, and plot. The Nightmare is my favorite. He's mysterious and creepy, but also kind of endearing? I don't know. It all kind of reminded me of Daughter of No Worlds with mixed with a bit of a darker Once Upon a Broken Heart vibe.

Of all the books that I've read this year.. this one is my favorite!

Every free moment I've had in the past week, I wanted to be reading this book. The dark spooky atmosphere was so delicious. The magic system was so unique and intriguing. The writing was absolutely beautiful and at times hauntingly poetic!

I've already started devouring book 2 in this series and can't wait to read more by this author! ...more
