Initial Thoughts:
This book felt like a great change from the types of books I've read this past year. I was relieved that the characters were written and felt like adults. I found that I was able to connect with the characters and experience their emotions more effectively because they weren't written as children.
I found a lot of foreshadowing within the book as well as multiple hints pointing towards future plot twists. For this reason, the "plot twists" weren't as shocking as I would have hop ...more

Wow. I haven't read a fantasy book that wrapped me in since I first read Harry Potter. I read this entire book in less than 24 hours.

The best!!!
Best book of the year for me. It was so easy to get wrapped up in this world!! I love everything about it, dragons, war, magic, love. Violet is such a great protagonist and I loved seeing her growth. Chefs kiss. However, do not get attached to literally anyone in this book!! Ended on a cliff hanger but luckily I waited to read till the second came out so I don’t have to wait to read the next one. Highly recommend!!
My favourite book of all time. Beautifully written, so many surprises. Love the entire storyline, everything!!! Keeps you hooked, wanting more, I couldn’t put this book down! Can’t wait for Iron Flame (book 2). 100% worth the read! I hope they make it into a tv show or movie!
