I didn't like this as much as I thought I would. It was Charlie and the Chocolate Factory set in a library. I felt the characters were really flat and not all that interesting. I also wondered how many kids were going to get the numerous references in the book to old trivia game answers and other books. I was disappointed but know some of my students will enjoy it.

A bit reminiscent of Willie Wonka's golden ticket, twelve kids get to embark on a fun treasure hunt in a library with a wonka-esque benefactor. It is a great read even if you aren't a children's librarian. I of course ate it up!

This was a well paced Willy Wonka-esque tale. There were a lot of similarities with worthy/unworthy contestants and different challenges to weed contestants out. A different aspect was an emphasis placed on the value of teamwork and playing for the enjoyment of the game, rather than an individual's efforts. There wasn't much character development, but many students will enjoy following along and trying to solve some of the puzzles themselves.

Fun book that provides lots of opportunities to play library games. I will admit at times I felt a bit lost, but I would love to visit Mr. Lemoncello's Library.
