One of my favorite books of all time, this is a WWII/Holocaust novel; narrated by Death, which is what makes this book unique. Coming-of-age story of a young girl who becomes friends with a Jewish man, hidden in her foster parents' basement. Excellent!

Young Adults get all the best literature written for them! I thought the narration by "death" was well done. The characters were well developed and you became attached to them. I liked the historical setting while having a fictional story which aloud for a well laid out plot. I think this would be a great book for students paired with a study of World War II or the holocaust.
