The Shamans at the End of Time is a mystical time-travel adventure that begins with Vlad, a reluctant soldier, who, during a fierce battle, is magically transported through a portal to a distant civilisation where he immediately finds himself pursued by a new enemy, a mob of savages. Eventually, finding himself in a Vlahin village, a new set of challenges awaits him as he is forced to adapt to a strange new culture, language, and way of life.

This one kind of reminds me of the idea of John Carter-- but better than the Disney movie version, and based in more historically-grounded roots, rather than outer space. The protagonist wakes up in the middle of an ancient land/time in Europe, but the present/past/future events that are going on can be a little bit confusing.
