The Memory of Lost Dreams is a dystopian sci fi book where the reader and the main character alike get lost in a futuristic world where virtual reality and AI have advanced to the point where it may be impossible to tell the dream world from the real one.

The descriptions in this book are very detailed and well thought out, and the political set up, which has a world with curfews, strict laws for its citizens and police with broad reaching power, seems timely. Reylan encounters the REQUIEM machi

The Memory of Lost Dreams is a totally engrossing dystopian thriller where the main character Raylan Hawke is trapped in an alternate universe and where he is torn between right and wrong and has to make tough decisions that will change the world forever.

What impresses the most is the laid back approach of story telling rarely seen in a thriller. The author describes the characters and the world in which they are part of with utmost vividness and the story is well complemented with some nice tw

The Memory of Lost Dreams is a dystopian historical set after WWI in Europe. Reylan, a young man, steps into a machine then finds himself transported to a new world that seems very familiar. His memories drive the story, but are the memories real or imagined?

The novel is written with poetic ambition; the imagery is compelling, and the theme is rich and imaginative. The story sometimes gets lost in abstraction and there are some typos, but it is worth the read for people who enjoy thought-provoki

The Memory of Lost Dreams by Davon Custis (Joseph Minert) is a fascinating blend of Sci-Fi and dystopian fiction, where the main character leaves his world and begins afresh in a virtual world. It’s a story in which virtual reality becomes true to life, where the individual entering it can feel pain, fear, joy, and can even lose their life (for real). Those entering REQUIEM, as it is called, experience life through an AI/virtual reality that is ever-expanding based on one’s own memories and thos ...more

This is a thought-provoking sci-fi novel that takes readers on a journey through the crumbling remnants of a once-great world, where memory and identity are as unstable as the ruins themselves. The technology has not only advanced but devoured the very fabric of society. Through the eyes of a naive young protagonist, Reylan, we descend into a labyrinth of forgotten dreams, political unrest, and psychological uncertainty.
Custis weaves together elements of time displacement, and socio-political co

The Memory of Lost Dreams is an ambitious tale about a speculative world where we can enter and live in the dream. It explores the good and bad and how it can be used for the wrong purpose. It also brings readers to the world beyond imagination that exists far into the future.

The story is everywhere in the book's first half, and I had to recheck some parts to ensure I didn't miss anything. However, it's easy enough to pick up once readers understand the main idea of REQUIEM, the contraption to d

Despite this book undergoing several changes and revisions, it is an interesting concept, and I always enjoy technology running wild or dystopian themes, which can seem both foreign and familiar in so many various ways. This book also has strong worldbuilding, which something very near and dear to my own heart. Basically, the protagonist gets swept up in a strange machine and goes on an adventure to solve some intriguing mysteries about the "Ancients", among other curiosities. Occasionally, ther ...more

The Memory of Lost Dreams by Davon M. Custis, is an ambitious Matrix-type story of a young man caught in a virtual reality world. Reylan Hawke enters REQUIEM, a cylindrical machine in a room at the deserted Imperia Public Library after being ousted from his village for opposing the Chief. This doesn’t seem to be a good idea as there is a dead body in the room who appears to be his friend who disappeared many years before. However, Reylan has always been curious about the “Ancients” and he climbs ...more

This was a very interesting mix of sci-fi and dystopian society. While the sci-fi elements transported the reader into a whole different world (arguably, 2 different worlds), the political elements on the dystopian side were very pertinent and relatable. The story itself was well plotted. The writing style and dialogue isn't my personal preference, but that doesn't take away from a job well done. ...more
