I am really enjoying the Arresting Onyx series by Amber Daulton. In book 2, ARRESTING JEREMIAH, we pick up soon after book 1 left off, with Jim, parole officer and the brother of Mia from book 1, having been injured and taken temporarily off active work. I really like the gritty romantic suspense world that Daulton has created here, with stalkers, a drug crime ring, law enforcement officers, drama, romance and spice. Onyx is a gang that has been distributing drugs that Jim has been trying to tak ...more

Although Romance isn't my genre, I thought that this was very well written, and the plot was also very intriguing. I liked the romance between Jeremiah (Jim) and Calista, and there were a lot of unusual twists and turns as well. They seem like very realistic people with very realistic problems, and both of them need to work through their personal struggles. ...more

I've read a few of the Arresting Onyx books and Arresting Jeremiah has the strongest story and characters for me. Calista and Jim (The parole officer) from the first book, and Mia's brother, are both well-rounded. Jim is a grumpy person with a temper, but he's also very moral and caring. Calista is a single mother who's experienced upsets in love and depends only upon herself.

The romance is believable, because even though it starts in this book, we know that the characters have liked each other

If you're looking for a spicy romance, and you're willing to overlook some stilted dialogue and crime drama clichés, you could do worse than Arresting Jeremiah. This is the second installment in the Arresting Onyx series, but don’t worry -- Amber Daulton makes sure you won’t feel left out if you skipped Arresting Mason. In fact, you might be better off jumping straight into this one, especially if you have a thing for hunky parole officers and attractive waitresses with justifiable trust issues. ...more

Arresting Jeremiah is a gripping mix of slow-building romance and personal redemption. Jim, a parole officer on leave, gets pulled into a dangerous situation involving one of his parolees. Meanwhile, he forms a connection with Calista, a waitress and single mom dealing with her difficult past and a stalker.

The relationship between Jim and Calista feels authentic. It's physical but never careless or rushed. There's a steady tension between them that adds to the emotional depth rather than distrac

Arresting Jeremiah pulled me in with its slow-burning tension! I admired Calista’s resilience as a single mum protecting her child while opening her heart again. Jim as a quiet hero, balancing his duty with desire added more addicting tension. The book was filled with suspense as past dangers were creeping back in. I really enjoyed following their journey together.
