I really enjoyed the first book in the Traveller's Luck series, so was really looking forward to reading the second. First, the positives, Eric Gibson has created a unique world that's fascinating. The characters are great, and it's fun to see their rapport. My favourite characters in the series are Pel and also the Hob tavern owner from this book. The second book in the Traveler’s Luck picks up right where the first left off, so if you haven’t read book one, Perilous Shores, go back and do that now. I don’t read sword and sorcery stories often, but the best part about this series is the wide cast of characters and their species. Apart from humans, you get eel men, harpies, orcs, lizard-like people, hobgoblins, and more.

This is book 2 of the ‘Traveler’s Luck’ series and I would strongly advise reading book 1 ‘Perilous Shores’ first because this one picks up at exactly the point that one leaves off and it will be pretty much impossible to understand what is going on here without that prior knowledge.
