I continue to enjoy the ANTUNITE CHRONICLES through every installment. Terry Birdgenaw has created a truly fascinating dystopian world that is well fleshed out and will appeal to young adult sci fi readers. In this third book, Antunites Unite, we’re years after the environmental disaster that ravaged Poo-ponic. Two ants, Rose and Jasper are being sent as spies by one of the bee queens to destroy an evil racist caste system where red ants are elite, and brown and black ants are inferior, as well

After generations of struggling between democracy and dictatorship, will antocracy finally win in the end?
This is the third story in the Antunites Unite series, and just like with the two previous books, there is another mad ANT dictator out to enslave the ants of Antalonia (the new name for the revitalised planet where the insects originally lived) This ANT regime enslaves black and brown ants with a programme of histrionics, bionics and socionics, to keep the red ant elite on top and the less ...more

Set generations after the end of the apocalyptic second book; book three gives planet Poo'ponic a second chance and a new name, Antalonia. A world where ANTs rule and other insectoids are extinct, and not by natural evolution. The red ants are stronger and ruthlessly use histrionics, bionics, and socionics to control and enslave black and brown ants. Where can this lead? Can Chameleon ant spies from Bilaluna, the neighboring moon, infiltrate the upper echelons of Anlatonia and start a revolution

Another clever cautionary tale
This is the third book I’ve read in the Antunite Chronicles, and it’s just as clever as the others.
Several generations ago, insects from Bilaluna were sent through a wormhole to recolonise Poo-ponic. Now, the evil ant tyrants have once again taken over. The story focuses on three main time periods, with most of the action on Poo-ponic, however, there are some chapters updating us on what’s going on in Bilaluna too.

This was a fascinating book that you can read on so many levels. It appears to be an adventure story, which indeed it is and a well-written one too, but it really is so much more. Long before I read the appendix ‘About this series’, I was thinking that it reminded me of Animal Farm, 1984 and Brave New World. It’s a great way to introduce young adults, for whom the series is clearly intended, to the world of politics and power. The book is very dark at times, as the worlds of politics and power a

Loved this one! The 3rd book in the series has lots of intrigue and scheming to save the planet from a dictANTorship (no that is not a typo!) The red ANTs want to take over the world! It gives you something to think about, considering the state of our own democracies here on Earth. Highly recommended reading.

***** Literary Titan Gold Book Award and 5-star review *****
"Antunites Unite by Terry Birdgenaw is the third book in the Antunite Chronicles. This series is a great starting point for budding lovers of high science fiction. Warrior Cats meet Ender's Game, and the characters are regular AND cyborg insects.
In Antunites Unite, we follow several different ant characters as they fight to keep and restore order among their colonies. Not only does the reader have to keep track of different characters a ...more

This is a unique book, with a highly detailed, well-explained dystopian society of cyborg insectoids at its core.
To tell its story, much of the book focused on past events of various time periods that contributed to the society’s current state, and on mentors passing information about the inner workings of Antalone society to a younger generation.
According to the blurb: "Rose and Jasper, raised amongst their enemy...infiltrate the Antalone cyborg elites. They must dismantle a dystopian regime.. ...more

I received a free copy of this book, and I am offering an honest review.
My honest review is going to be mixed. I just finished the book a few minutes ago, and I am happy to tell you that good vibes win out.
I am giving the book a five star rating — not because I loved the book, but because it is a book I would never have read on my own, and I don’t want to hurt the book just because I’m not actually in its audience.

Terry Birdgenaw’s novel, Antunites Unite, is the dramatic saga of the rise and fall of a cyborg-ant dynasty on a far-off colony, Antalonia. The colony separated from its parent in the near-past and its leaders systematically engineered a society that destroyed altruism, community, and family-life. The story details the genetic engineering (bionics); the social engineering (socionics); and the manipulation of history and truth (histrionics). [comparable to Brave New World]

First I will state that my reviews typically do not rehash story details otherwise represented in the blurb or other reviews. Suffice to say the story is about an alien race of insects, cyborgs and normal. I also hate giving anything less than stellar ratings but I have to be honest - I wasn't enamored with this book as others. Four factors jarred my enjoyment of what is admittedly an interesting concept:
Endless telling instead of showing. The author seems to feel the need to explain every detai ...more

In book 3 of the Antunite Chronicles, Antunites Unite follow two tiny, brave ANTs, Rose and Jaspar, as they infiltrate the enemy’s regime to bring down the caste system in which black and brown ants, and other insects, are being systematically destroyed.

The Antunites Chronicle creates a unique insectoid world. The imaginative cyborg characters contribute to the setting. The third installment, Antunites Unite, presents the last chapter in this YA dystopian science fiction series.
The stories are an exercise of imagination and generally well-paced, with a plot that keeps readers turning pages through its action and intrigue. Readers who started with later books in the series might still be able to follow along.

This is another entry in the Antunites world, each installment of which is easy to read on its own. I really like the idea of using 'story' to convey messages about our own world--plenty of authors use this approach to enable social commentary. On this world, in this installment, we live amongst giant cyborg ants.
The author is clever in his naming conventions and the storyline has moments of charm. But, as with a previous Antunites book I read some years ago, I found the sheer amount of informa ...more

This book is awesome for a fantasy and dystopian reader.
It took me awhile to read it because of the world building and made up words but once I could automatically decipher them, I sped through the book and wanted to keep reading to find out what would happen next.
Lots of twists and turns kept me flipping the page.

Antunites Unite is the story of an ant colony that has been forced to escape to another planet and now, many years later, they want to go back. Meanwhile, a red ant dictator has enslaved the black and brown ants and taken over the colony. Two ants are chosen to be spies and start a revolution.
I knocked it a star because the beginning is very telling. Though it is necessary since this is the third book in the series, it seemed like a big info dump. Once I got through all of that, the story took o ...more

A Unique and Thought-Provoking Read
Antunites Unite by Terry Birdgenaw is unlike anything I’ve read before. It blends science fiction, social commentary, and allegory in a way that really makes you think. The world-building is imaginative and clever, and the story holds deeper meaning beneath the surface—challenging ideas of unity, leadership, and the consequences of blind allegiance.
Birdgenaw has a distinct voice and a creative way of weaving big-picture themes into an engaging narrative. While ...more
