What a marvel of characters, plot, description, and (rare in my reading of late) happy ending. AND, Roorbach tells this story through the voice of a teen pregnant girl and did so with nary a false word. I have already mentioned this to several friends as one to put on their TBRs.
I look forward to two things. Seeing him this weekend at Booktopia and reading his back list. ...more

Bill Roorbach is so fun! If you get a chance to see him in person, please do! His latest novel, tells the story of Lucky Turtle through Cindra Zoeller, who is sent to Church camp in Montana after being convicted of a serious crime at the age of 17. Continuing to rebel, she and Lucky run away and hide out in the wilderness with some help. Most of the story is about that summer, interspersed with passages from Cindra's life now.
