What Members Thought

learned so much about the lives of monks and, in particular, their complete devotion to God and their willingness to give up the world they came from. I knew little about Gregorian chants, but have heard them at compline services. It's unlike anything you've ever experienced. Reading this novel really got me thinking about the source of those chants and how they affect the singers and anyone within hearing distance.

My least favorite of the series this far. Religious themes tend to be a turn off for me. Also, the brewing discord between Gamache and Beauvoir really disheartened me, especially towards the end. So, while I love my Three Pines series, this is bottom of my list. Still an excellent story, well written, and insightful for future stories.
