I love this book. It is now one of my all-time favorites. It is so well written. The story is wonderful, and there are fantastic insights and comments on humanity and human nature along the way. The characters Louise Penny creates are given so much depth, I came to feel I knew them or someone just like them. Chief Inspector Gamache is wonderful - I’m torn between falling in love with him and wanting to be like him.

Being born in Montreal, I laughed when Quebequois swear words were used. I am not going to give away any of the plot, but for readers who enjoy a good mystery that involve everyday people, and you also want to support a brilliant Canadian author, this series is just for you.
