Y'alllllll. What the actual f. I literally finished this book 10 minutes ago, cried, sent a snapchat talking about how amazing this book is, cried again, and now I'm here. I usually finish a book within a couple of days but I had a feeling to take my time with this one and O M G. SOOOOOOO beautifully written and Schwab did a phenomenal job wrapping everything up together at the end. Like Bea doing her thesis on Addie's polaroids and Henry's book. Wow I’ve been reading nothing but amazing books this year! This has been on my radar for a LONG time and I’m so glad I got around to it. The writing is beautifully captivating and heartbreaking and even though it feels otherworldly, some aspects really ground it to reality. For example, Henry Strauss is an east coast New York City jew with odd relations with his family and his faith. If I’d be able to give more than five stars, I would, without a doubt. Never have I read something as original as this book. The story is compelling and capturing.
It starts off slow, but not the unpleasant kind. For this story, it seems you need the slow start and the time to rearrange your thoughts. The shifts in time throughout the story are well timed and feel natural. It provides insight exactly when you feel like needing it.
