Okay this book has made it into my top 3 fav books of all time at this point. I ATE THIS UPPPP. I couldn't put this down or stop thinking about the characters and speculating on what was going to happen!!

This book follows our badass FMC Oraya, a human girl who was taken under the wing of the Nightborn vampire king after a brutal attack on her human village leaves her orphaned as a baby, and her venture through the Kejari, a competition held by the goddess of death Nyaxia, amongst all three house Okay this book has made it into my top 3 fav books of all time at this point. This book follows our badass FMC Oraya, a human girl who was taken under the wing of the Nightborn vampire king after a brutal attack on her human village leaves her orphaned as a baby, and her venture through the Kejari, a competition held by the goddess of death Nyaxia, amongst all three houses of vampires. The Kejari is a competition to the death until the last winner is standing alive & will be granted a wish from Nyaxia herself as reward.

I loved Oraya as the FMC - her being a human in a world of vampires, where she can trust no one except her adoptive vampire father to literally not kill her out of bloodlust, is a feat that she does not let slow her down. She is so determined and badass, and just an inspiring FMC who overcomes so much.

The enemies to lovers here was top tier- RAIHN IS MY NEWEST BOOK BOYF for sure. The slow-burn, the banter, the way he worships the ground Oraya walks on, ugh.

The ending was just SO GOOD and had me reeling but also so excited to keep reading the series and find out where we go from here. Carissa Broadbent's writing is absolutely beautiful, I can't wait to read her entire backlist now.

It’s giving the hunger games meets fbaa and I’m here for it.
It was a very slow start for me, I almost dnf’d after the first chapter (and I never dnf) but powered through. The second half was much more engaging, however parts of the ending were just a little *too* similar to fbaa. For those reasons only a 4/5 ⭐️, but by far the best fantasy I have read in awhile.

I will never stop recommending this book. The cover is so fucking ugly but the contents are some of the best fantasy/romance I’ve read in a long time. The concept is so unique from such an under hyped author: think of acotar x hunger games x vampires. PLEASE READ THIS BOOK 🙏🏼

Oh my God. SO. Mothertrucking. Good!!!!
I read a few of the top reviews for this book when it popped up on my recommended here on Goodreads and never have I been more glad I bit the bullet and went for this read! I finished this in roughly 6 hours it is that good!
