When I reflected on this book after having read it for the first time years ago, there are elements that seem, if not problematic, a bit weird. But then I reread it, and all the issue I found within the first half ended up being issues the author was aware of and fixed in the second half. The main issue I'm talking about is Bree being Archer's tether to the world and trying to "fix" him. When I reflected on this book after having read it for the first time years ago, there are elements that seem, if not problematic, a bit weird. The main issue I'm talking about is Bree being Archer's tether to the world and trying to "fix" him. As cute as their romance is, it feels a bit infantilizing, but the characters then realize this and take time apart to grow. I think that's a really good writing choice. While I have now read more books by this author and romances in general, I am a little less entranced by this novel than as I was my first read through, but it still has some really cute and touching moments. After my reread, I think my biggest complaint is just that it's too dramatic at times. Having read quite a few Mia Sheridan novels, I notice that she tends to lean into the drama and angst, and there's nothing wrong with that, but sometimes it's a bit much for me. Overall though this story stands up as one of her best (that I've read).

This was so good. The romance was adorable, the characters were great, but most importantly, out of all the books I've read with the "two characters helping each other overcome trauma" trope, this one did it the best. Although Archer and Bree were very much in love, and attentive and attuned to each's thoughts and needs, they were never codependent. (view spoiler) Overall, this was just such a well written book. It got really heavy at times, but there were also a ton of moments of levity. I'd definitely recommend this book to romance readers, as the romance is super cute and swoon-worthy, but as I mentioned (in detail, lol, I'm very passionate about how "good" relationships are portrayed in media), Archer and Bree's relationship is just also super healthy, which is (no shade) a breath of fresh air in the romance genre.

Okay.. I absolutely loved this book. From cover to cover, I was so hooked. Archer Hale is so so precious and deserves everything good. I was so sad the more I learned about his childhood and how people treated him. I love Archer and Bree SO MUCH. They are one of my favorite couples and Archer Hale will forever have my entire heart. Bree Prescott, a woman who’s been carrying a heavy trauma arrives in the small town of Pelion, hopes to find peace after the shocking event that miserably set things up in her life. There, she meets Archer Hale, a silent man who has, since then, been an outcast in the town, and a story full of love and dark pasts starts to unfold.

When Bree and Archer first met, butterflies suddenly fluttered in my stomach. So This heartfelt, unique, and wonderful story captivated me and tugged at my heartstrings.

When Bree and Archer first met, butterflies suddenly fluttered in my stomach. Some said it was an insta-love, but on my own, it was an instant attraction—not love—as the love was built slowly and carefully. Archer’s apologies in the form of almond joys, showing real care and concern by walking in the storm, and making Bree as his word for love had my heart melting because the love there was too good, and I hoped reality doesn’t exist because I wanted to vanish away into this story.

Tears in my eyes were so eager to escape even when I’m not halfway through the book. Glimpses of Archer’s past broke my heart, and him telling about how he felt so lonely and how he’s misunderstood broke me even more. He’s good, shy, sweet, and caring. I can’t fathom how most people casted him away, not caring about his pain and loss. His disability is a huge factor in this book, it portrayed the beauty of understanding, the importance of listening to one’s story, and the realness of love.

One of the best messages this book has is that whether you see yourself as an ugly, damaged, and muddled being, there is always a lovely beauty behind it. You just need to unfold it and see through the mess. There is always a masterpiece on the other side, a day will come when we’ll be able to see what it is.

What I didn’t like was the strip club scene. Travis literally had a lot of chances to redeem himself but he didn’t grab any of them. Archer, I know it wasn’t your fault. Naïevity is different from lacking common sense, especially in this part. Knowing Travis, Archer shouldn’t have trusted him immediately, I mean, all his life he’s been tormented by Travis. Bree and Archer also had a few borderline cheesy scenes that made me cringe. There were chapters where the writing was questionable, for example, I didn’t like how a scent was called “musky and male”. However, this is still a great story. Perfectly imperfect.

Capturing love at its purest and finest form, Archer’s Voice told the wonder of love through the lives of damaged, disabled, and strong people. It’s not just a love story, it is also a story of survival, hope, finding yourself, and moving away from the past. This is a story worth sharing, a story where you’ll learn how listening to someone creates a big impact in their lives. And that love is possible in all kinds of forms and languages. ...more

This was such a beautiful book! Bree and Archer’s love was so real and genuine. I absolutely loved both of them.

It was really heartwarming to see how kind, gentle and loving as Archer was, especially after everything he had been through and how everyone treated him. Bree’s compassion and understanding of him was so touching and they truly were a perfect match for each other.

The ending had me sobbing. This book was so good.
