okay here’s the deal. I HATED THIS. as i do anything that has to do with colleen hoover. i was struggling and trudging along though this. this was so slow paced to me in such a bad way and i had so many issues with their relationship and every little thing annoyed me at some point. it got to a point where i was literally dreading continuing reading this. like i got so excited about the idea of not having to read this anymore as i was finishing it.

here are my problems:

- diem is a stupid name
- du okay here’s the deal. I HATED THIS. as i do anything that has to do with colleen hoover. i was struggling and trudging along though this. this was so slow paced to me in such a bad way and i had so many issues with their relationship and every little thing annoyed me at some point. it got to a point where i was literally dreading continuing reading this. like i got so excited about the idea of not having to read this anymore as i was finishing it.

here are my problems:

- diem is a stupid name
- during the whole first half of the book they literally only felt uncomfortable around each other, plus he’s scotty’s best friend and that’s weird to me, so that made me root against them basically the whole time
- ledger is a stupid name
- the situation in which scotty died was so unnecessary. if you’re in a location that is not your home and you therefore know you have to be driving later, WHY WOULD YOU DRINK???
- and even after they did, what caused this moment to happen was a conscious decision made by kenna even though she was drunk, where she knew it was wrong to do what she did but did it anyway as opposed to calling someone to get them. she had 2 chances to prevent this extremely preventable tragedy but still didn’t, and i’m supposed to feel bad for her as if she’s solely a victim?
- i don’t believe that she wouldn’t have been able to find his or her phone in the car
- ledger acted like he was in love with her from their first interaction, and he hadn’t even said 2 words to her yet
- they really only had a sexual connection for a good portion of it
- also it was VERY insta-love-y
- i understand that she was in a brutal situation, but kenna wasn’t really that interesting outside of it. like no offense but i don’t really get why ledger was so obsessed with her
- that stupid fucking “diversity” paragraph. don’t do something for diversity just for the sake of doing it. actually do it well. it’s important
- scotty’s parents forgave her after 5 years of absolute hatred just because they read one letter of hers that just described the situation they already knew about with a slight hint of context from her side of it? they forgave her just like that?? come onnn
- the writing was not good. pretty on brand for coho though. so.

here are the (very few) things i did like:

- the thing at the end about the ring scotty got for her was super cute
- diem’s dialogue was charming

i really don’t understand what you guys see in this and i think a 4.38 average rating is INCREDIBLY too high. y’all are actually insane ...more

At first I was like 'um...okay, Colleen, what are you writing?' and then as time went on, I fell in love with the characters and the story at large. My favorite character is Diem by far! We think and wonder alike. Lol

I love Ledger so much (the human Ledger). He definitely falls into that special category—the one that makes us squeal—called 'Men written by women'. I love how he loved Diem, how he did his best to protect the people he loved and also that he's pretty handy. He handled his emotions ...more

5 stars ⭐️ coho has done it again. this book truly ripped my heart out and then rebuilt it again. a new favorite for sure. my heart is going to need some time to heal though !!

This was so good. The story was amazing and Ledger was..... perfect. Not my typical read due to it being heavily child based but it was still so so good.
