ok this was such a strong start to me reading Colleen Hoover, I have a few of her books but haven't reached for them yet. But WOW. I listened to this on kindle unlimited as an audio book and I think that made it even more emotional!

It was such a good second chance story, and I really love how she represented grief and how it affects the people around it differently. The relationship between the MCs was so great to watch unravel too, withs its many backwards and forwards moments. I really really ...more

Okay, I'm crying!

This is one of the most melancholy books I've ever read but I couldn't stop reading it. It made me cry so dang much and I loved every second of it. The story revolves around a death by car accident and the separation of a mother from her child, so anyone who may be triggered by those things should be mindful of that before reading. It's a very emotional book that cuts deep, but it's such a beautiful story. Grab a box of tissues & read this book!!

my god. this just might be my new favorite book. i felt like i was experiencing each and every emotion from every character. my book is FILLED with tear stains. some are angry tears, some sad, and some happy. i am in awe of how this book made me feel the whole time. if i could give this book 27/5 stars i would.

The story follows a Kenna Rowan, a young mother who has recently been released from prison and faced with nothing but rejection. However, as the strong woman and mother she is, she will do anything to reunite with her child again, but the road ahead to acceptance and forgiveness is a tough one travelled.
This book had so much in it. It was a journey I’d be happy to take again if I only know how to wipe it from my mind. When I tell you I sobbed, I SOBBED!! I had to stop between chapters to cry for Kenna. For Scotty. This book is a gem. Here’s why:
- Kenna’s been through alloy. The lost. The hatred. The rejection. And worst of all, unable to see her baby Diem.
- Ledger was the BEST MAN I EVER MET (in romance novels). I loved the internal conflict Ledger dealt with the entire book. He was such an amazing complex character that had complex feelings and thoughts and a heart that broke repeatedly for Kenna's struggles and Diem's future.
- The shifting in narration between Ledger and Kenna forms the basis of this story. Seeing the story from both sides helps you connect more to it and fully understand the feelings.
- The story was straightforward, and some might even call it simple, but it had something to say and it successfully said it.
Colleen Hoover is known for delivering eminently readable stories, and this is just as riveting as the rest. Though she puts so much emotional toil into them, they never make me want to turn away. I want to continue flipping the pages. I want to live through whatever emotional punishment she's got on me. And that's what makes her stories so special.
Oh and I want to write a love song for Ledger.

So I have heard a lot of people rant and rave about Coho books. From the reviews I have read this has been a book that has not been as well received as others.

So I read this this month as part of my book club even though I missed the meeting cause of work 👎🏼

3.75 stars? kinda undecided about the rating but i didn’t feel a connection to this book at all and i’m bummed about it. i felt the ending was rushed and i wish we could’ve seen more time with diem at the end. i did like that she continually wrote to scotty so we could see a little bit of that relationship as well. honestly very sad i didn’t enjoy this as much as her other books :(

This was definitely way better than the last book I read by Colleen Hoover, it still failed to make me cry, which I really thought it would, but overall it was a pretty good book. It deals with hard topics and that letter stirred a lot of feelings in me but it's a good eye-opener on the topic, it also helps people realize that they should not judge without having all sides of a story.

Oh, my heart.
This book is just a reminder on how messy life is, how imperfect humans are; that grief isn't linear, or cleanly processed, and that forgiveness can be complicated (but not impossible).
