World War Z is a book that is good for people that like horror dystopian or even political. World war Z is a book about a zombie apocalypse. It starts out very slow when the apocalypse was started. World War Z is a book that is good for people that like horror dystopian or even political. World war Z is a book about a zombie apocalypse. It starts out very slow when the apocalypse was started. People knew about a form a rabies spreading but the didn’t really care about it because of medication that supposedly made you immune to “african Rabies” but didn’t work. The book quickly got very intense when huge zombie outbreaks started happening in lots of the major cities in the world. People were caught off guard because they weren’t told about the apocalypse before the zombie’s were breaking down their doors The government began to use the military and their weapons designed to kill or hurt humans, these weapons don’t work on zombies. Zombies are not the only threat to humans in this book, there is the threat of cold because lots of people went north where its cold so the zombie’s would freeze and couldn’t get them. There was also lots of mental problems with humans some that caused humans to turn against each others, others that would just give up and never wake up, there was also people who feared zombies so much that they started acting like zombies and eating humans.
I was disappointed with the way the problem was solved in this book there wasn’t any cure or amazing idea that lead humans to victory or anything like that. It was more just learning and changing to defeat the zombies. People were learning how to kill zombies, mastering a weapon and destroying the brain with it. People that couldn’t fight would find different ways to help, like pilots could supply places that were in the middle of infected areas with resources, there is one interview were a filmmaker who takes videos of people killing zombies with high tech weapons to raise people’s confidence.
World War Z is a book that engages the reader. The way it shows how the world would react to a zombie apocalypse interest the reader by relating it to the real world. It does an amazing job of making zombies feel as if they were a reality. With so many different perspectives almost everyone has something to relate to them in the book. The book is made of interview of survivors of the zombie apocalypse. I found this format a little bit confusing because I have never read a book written in this format. I found it harder to figure out who was being interview and where they were the story they explained took place. I thought the caption and the beginning of the interview wasn’t enough to give the reader a good understanding of the person being interviewed. The format also had some pros. The interviews were written from the reporters perspective so it would say if the interviewee shrugged or laughed when he said something, this helped give the reader a better understanding with interviewees beliefs. The book consists of interviews from lots of different people with lots of different worldviews. It has interviews from soldiers in the military, people who survived in infected areas, religious people who believe god would lead them through the war, Scientist who study zombies there is also an interview from someone that was in the international space station throughout the whole war watching events unfold underneath them with no threat of zombies attacking him. All of them explain a different side of the story. It was also very interesting to read what the government did in the situation and why they did it.
I enjoyed readings this book. Although the disappointing solution to the problem, I still liked it because it was close to what I think the world would actually act in the case of a zombie apocalypse and this engaged me. Not all chapters were very engaging. Some of the chapters were confusing making me lose my interest. Overall it was a good book and a recommend it to anyone who likes horror dystopian or zombies.
