this was such a great book and i would encourage everyone to read it. i’ve heard many people hype this book for the romance subplot, but i don’t think the focus should be on the romance between atlas and lily when discussing this book. to me, this book is a painfully real tale of the generational cycles of abuse and domestic violence if relationships. it ...more

Lily hasn’t always had it easy, but that’s never stopped her from working hard for the life she wants. The story of this book is so moving and is something that will stick with you for a long time. I sat there for like 20 minutes processing this after I finished it.

What I enjoyed most about this book are the lessons and meanings behind it. It shows you a new perspective into toxic and abusive relationships, shows you the how’s and why’s and offers you insight into the “naked truths” into why the partner wouldn’t leave the other. It highlights the struggles one faces mentally when put in a situation like lily’s and lily’s mother. It describes how it’s not easy for one to immediately leave, and describes the mental struggles facing those issues.
