Charlie is nervous about starting high school, and in a way to cope with the anxiety he starts sending letters to a stranger, detailing his life experiences. Set in the 1990s, The Perks Of Being A Wallflower is a coming of age epistolary novel that narrates themes of family, friendship, past trauma and relationships. Sounds cliche, but there is no other way to describe it, nothing that justifies it anyway.

As a young person myself, Charlie’s letters/story felt relatable and really made me think about how i want to “participate” in life and “feel infinite” and what it means to do those things. Definitely a book i will continue to think about my whole life and recommend to friends as i adore this book.
