Sure, I wouldn't marry a guy who works in the same field as me within like two years of dating, I definitely won't move out of new york to missouri unless they excavated Amy and I are actually so similar, and idk what to think about. Sure, I wouldn't marry a guy who works in the same field as me within like two years of dating, I definitely won't move out of new york to missouri unless they excavated a gold mine (I will still take it and come back to ny) and I definitely won't let my husband use my credit cards like that. I think. I would probably leave a marriage like that way too soon, or I hope I do.

Coming to the book, while I had not watched the movie, the main spoiler has already posted and viewed a million times on all types of platform. So I knew a few things beforehand, but that doesn't undermine the surprise factor the book has. The writing is, surprisingly, very natural and easygoing - it doesn't make me feel like googling every other pop culture reference nor does it feel dumbed down that doesn't correlate to their setting and pacing. There are lines, certain insights, like the loss of writing in the early 00s through the internet (paralleling today's AI surge) and general observations on men women and marriage that I really appreciate. It's hard to find a contemporary book that resonates with you because the subject matter and style can be completely out of your type at times.

The characters are well written, the plot has good pacing and the author makes you feel for both Amy and Nick. I like that, but obviously both are psychos and narcissists. i do wish Nick's father's plotline had some more element to it, it felt a little suspenseful and even borderline horror. I also wish Amy's parents got a taste of their daughter + those bastards who robbed her at the motel. I don't know. Would be a nice full circle.

Either way, this was a really good book to pick up during a block. ...more

is it bad to say i liked the movie more? the book was a little slow in spots but is still one of the best twists ever written in my opinion.

I haven’t read this book in 5 years and though I’ve seen the film regularly, it still surprised me in some way. This book is so twisted, my god. I need to read Sharp Objects immediately.
