I’m struggling to articulate my thoughts on this book. I almost cant tell you why exactly it’s 5 stars for me. It’s just a feeling.

Something about this book wrapped around my heart and settled there from the beginning. It truly felt so cozy while reading it’s hard to explain.

The first time I picked up this book, I barely got past page 30. But the second time (this time) I never wanted to savor each sentence more.

BUT I ALSO HAVE POINTS TO MAKE. sally rooney’s writing was a style that i was initially quite nervous about reading - in particular the no speech marks thing, idk i just didn’t think i’d be able to follow it well if that makes sense? anyway that was not an issue at all. marianne as a character was so completely and utterly bland and basic that it made me want to cry at points - but then she would do the most tiny, insignificant thing in the world a ...more

I’m conflicted about what to rate this honestly. I liked it, but I wasn’t obsessed with it like I have seen others become with this book. Sally Rooney has a very distinct writing style which doesn’t include quotation marks which makes the book a little hard to follow at times but once I got the hang of it, it was easier to read.

i didnt normal people at first. but after it “marinated” in my brain for a while, i realized how real it was. it breaks my heart every time i think about it. i think i’ll love it even more after the 2nd read.

okey, tuve que dejar que pasaran unas horas para poder escribir esta reseña sin estar acaparada por la emoción que estaba sintiendo cuando acabé el libro y ahora me permito escribir esto con cabeza fría y tratando de ser parcial

si me preguntan de qué género es normal people, NO TENGO IDEA okey? es que, ya sí, es una novela,
pero de romance?? mmm no creo, sí, no, maybe, al transcurso del libro podemos darnos cuenta que simplemente es la vida de marianne y connell, desde el último año de secundari okey, tuve que dejar que pasaran unas horas para poder escribir esta reseña sin estar acaparada por la emoción que estaba sintiendo cuando acabé el libro y ahora me permito escribir esto con cabeza fría y tratando de ser parcial

pero de romance?? mmm no creo, sí, no, maybe, al transcurso del libro podemos darnos cuenta que simplemente es la vida de marianne y connell, desde el último año de secundaria y como desarrollan y desenvuelven su vida adulta

tengo que decir que, amigo, LA FRUSTRACIÓN que sentía yo cuando estos dos simplemente no se comunicaban me quería volver loca. la primera mitad del libro fue la que me agarró más floja, porque habían momentos en que la encontraba fome, o me enojaba con los personajes, o simplemente no los entendía (nunca al extremo de no querer leerlo más, pero sí de avanzarlo más rápido) y cuando llegué a la segunda mitad, ya no lo podía soltar; en ningún momento entendí completamente a los personajes, porque amixxxxx, jamás; pero sí empaticé con ellos bc that’s just me, y estaba amando la contradicción que sentía en todo momento

sigo procesando un poco, porque la novela es diferente a las que suelo leer y creo que eso tuvo un choque de realidad que me gustó de cierta forma y aunque muchas cosas no me cerraron nunca de los personajes, sí sentía cierta empatía y emoción por la forma en la que siempre volvían el uno al otro

finalmente, creo que me gustó el final, a qué me refiero? técnicamente es un final abierto, pero acabó tan bieeen, like, todo el desarrollo que tuvieron los personajes, los momentos en los que empezaban a tomar decisiones más ‘maduras’ lo agradecí

si están buscando un romance lindo para leer, este NO ES el libro, jajskajskkaka

así que le doy 4.5 estrellas, porque a pesar de que era muy contradictorio y no estaba de acuerdo en muchas cosas, lo re disfruté, me parece que los personajes estaban bien definidos, la forma en la que está narrada la novela too; y decir que el inglés estuvo fácil de leer también, aunque me pareció muy formal en ciertas ocasiones, maybe just bc the vocabulary

el libro me dejó con ganas de leer más a la autora, le puse el ojo ya a donde estás mundo bello; y les estaré contando qué tal si lo leo:)) ...more
