Hm, I'm not sure what to think of this book that definitely took me out of my comfort zone. Some scenes touched me, but that doesn't take away the fact that I was bored for a big part of the book. Overall, I still had a good time even if it didn't leave a lasting impression on me. ...more

oops i never actually wrote a review so here:

i didnt enjoy this book, and i know lots of people do and thats fine. but personally, i didnt.
i think the reason i didnt was down to the lack of plot, however sally rooney is very good at character based books.
about 100 pages in it all became quite repetitive with connell and mariannes relationship and i found myself not beung able to continue further.

also: the lack of speech marks stressed ke out

And it would've been a solid 4 if not for the formatting of the text. Not my cup of tea at all.

This book tackles a lot of complicated issues, particularly regarding class and mental illness. As someone who suffers from depression, that particular plot line resonated with me and contrary to some of the negative reviews, I don't think it was romanticized at all.

i cant even begin to describe this book and i feel like i cant put into words how i feel about and even what i disliked. but primarily i think this book is about relationships, good or bad, and all kinds of relationships. i feel like i can’t really reccomend this book to anyone without knowing the person, but if you think you would like it, its rly interesting so pls give it a try!!

I did not expect that ending tbh… this book actually felt like a whirlwind and I’m not sure if i loved it or hated it. There were many moments where i was so insanely pissed off but then there were super sweet moments that kept me invested and excited to see where Connell and Marianne’s story was going. The lack of communication throughout the entire book was not my fav but it made the book feel more real.
