A coming of age read - one where you don't always root for the characters yet find comfort in their true normal-ness. I often lean into romanticization and enjoyed watching their relationship grow and change - like being an observer to old friends you knew would end up together. Though the plot wasn't extremely engaging or unique, you read this story for people and it inspired me to rewatch Love, Rosie! I can definitely see myself coming back to this book for a comfort read or a rainy day, but f ...more

First time I read normal people it was a 3.5 ★ book for me but it has easily became one of my favourites, hence the new rating. I still don’t like the ending but I think there is so much a person can learn from this book <33

i actually liked this book. i’ve been in a slump for a while during exams and i was able to read this quickly over the weekend.
i didn’t LOVE any of the characters but that might have also been the point. they all had their flaws like any person.
the ending did feel uncompleted which left it open to decide what happens to the characters which was quite anticlimactic. however i still liked the book.

3.5 starts just because the communication between Connell and Marianne made me want to punch a hole in the wall. also i feel like the book didn’t really end, it’s just like another chapter. but overall i loved it and found myself relating to both of them in a way.

eh

i'd say this book is honest in its depictions of the struggles of living and changing, but it turns out that normal lives aren't all that interesting to read about. also marianne rubs me the wrong way for some reason.
