My first ever book by TJR and she did a phenomenal job. I fell in love with the story since the beginning. This is a very interesting read. I'm looking forward to read more books by TJR. Definitely broke the 5 star scale ...more

“You do not know how fast you have been running, how hard you have been working, how truly exhausted you are, until somewhat stands behind you and says, “It’s OK, you can fall down now. I’ll catch you.”

To be honest, I had no idea what to expect from this book, I just wanted to read this book and see if it is worth the hype. And it is! A scandalous and heartbreaking book. This is the first book I've read by Taylor Jenkins Reid, her writing style is so good. I love how detailed and well-writte

I’ll be adding this book to the list of books I was afraid to read because of the hype and then absolutely fell in love with it. I remember when this came out, followed up by Daisy Jones and the book world blew up about it. Back then this kind of story wasn’t what I wanted to read so I wrote it off. I’m so glad my tastes have evolved and that I gave this a chance. Evelyn Hugo is such a complex character and the way this story is told is so entertaining, relatable, and overall so enjoyable even i ...more

This was my first book by TJR and she came through with flying colors!!!! I am in the awe of this book and how much I came to love and despise Evelyn throughout the book and especially at the end. Although the chapters leading to the ending were heartbreaking, I too, like our character Monique, had a weird relationship with either worshiping Evelyn or looking at her as a human being with flaws. I absolutely loved the story and connected so much with Evelyn's character. ...more

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The writing is easy to binge and the story overall was very captivating, with just enough mystery to keep you hooked but didn't feel like overkill. The only thing was I wasn't as emotionally invested in these characters as I expected to be. But nonetheless still really enjoyed reading this and loved the story it told. ...more

There exists something so delicate, and tragic and beautiful yet electrically sinister about this “golden era” of Hollywood. This book evokes that peculiar mixture of milieu along with an absolutely endearing and mind blowing main character and an incredible inner conflict set to the pace of a well loved Rita Hayworth film, burdened with the reality of her off screen life. The plot was well written and the writing was beautiful. The only thing stopping me from giving this 5 stars, is the knowled ...more

READ 2022

This is one of those books that absolutely deserves all the hype it gets. I just don't have any words, really, and therefore this review will probably be short. I have only good things to say, but I feel like everyone else has already said them. I've never quite experienced a read like this: I felt compelled to read it all the time, but at the same time the story stressed me out so much that I als

I really enjoyed this book!! The characters were nuanced, flawed, and fully human, yet they were easy to love and relate to. This is definitely one of my favorites.
