"Duty, piety, loyalty, sacrifice"
what could i possibly say about this modern classic that could describe how good it is.... i don't think words do it justice. from its critiques on academic elitism to its clever and eerie references to mythology that play out throughout the novel, it truly is no surprise that tartt's brilliant novel is regarded as a modern staple in literature.
this is truly a book that i will never forget for as long as i live. ...more

4 stelle e mezzo ☆☆☆☆½
...more

RE-READ: April-may 2022
I re-read this novel more carefully, now, trying to understand all the references and sub-plots and little details that I had certainly missed the first time around.
I still had that hunting feeling of deep loss, when I finished it, but I didn't cry: the foreshadowing was evident, clear as daylight, from the very beginning and the sorrow and sadness I felt at the end had a weird impact on me.
I was aware of all the reasons behind what happens during the last chapter an ...more

To be perfectly fair, I would've killed Bunny too if I had the chance.
Edit: looking at the reviews for this book is hilarious. So many "I hate every character" and "I couldn't relate to any of the characters." Honey, if you relate to — or even passably like — any of the characters in this book, get help. You're not meant to. ...more

I find it hard to put into words everything I feel. It was beautiful, tragic, heart-wrenching. I was surprised at the hold it had on me and I am 100% sure it will linger in my mind and the characters will haunt me and follow me around for the longest time. Donna Tartt did an excellent job creating these unique, broken, lonely characters. I loved all of them and saw so much of myself in them. I felt connected to Richard the most. I could relate so much to the way he thought, viewed the world, the
