[close] Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet is a historical fiction novel set in 1986. It follows the story of Henry Lee, a Chinese American man who reflects on his past relationship with a Japanese American girl named Keiko. Their childhood friendship is changed when Keiko and her family are sent to a Japanese Internment Camp.

I read this book in High School, but the mark it left on me is still there. Such a touching story about many different relationships and another eye-opening novel about a historical event I, at the time, hadn’t ever heard of.
